What is Journey to Net Zero?

Journey to Net Zero is an accredited training course for business leaders looking to increase their understanding and focus on sustainability. Our course has been specifically designed to enable business leaders to develop and implement effective carbon reduction plans that cut costs, reduce carbon emissions and increase competitiveness.

Through group workshops, study material and one-to-one advice, our environmental consultants will guide you through what net zero means for your organisation and explore how you can prioritise action and deliver results.

ISEP accredited training

Journey to Net Zero is an accredited level 3 course and attendees will become fully certified by successfully completing a virtual assessment. This course is also CPD certified by The Institute of Sustainability and Environmental Professionals (ISEP), formerly the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA).

 

Who should attend Journey to Net Zero?

Our Journey to Net Zero course is intended for business leaders, or managers in ESG, facilities, operations or finance with an interest in sustainability.

We also offer Carbon Literacy training designed to engage employees at all levels of an organisation in reducing their carbon footprint and making sustainability part of their everyday lives.

Why Green Economy?

Green Economy, part of the Growth Company, is a social enterprise engaged in helping businesses reduce their carbon footprints every day. Our specialists have first hand experience of the barriers businesses face to reducing their carbon footprints and implementing sustainability strategies.

Our Carbon Literacy course has been specifically designed with these challenges in mind, giving you the skills and knowledge that they need to make informed and sustainable choices for your business.

As part of your Journey to Net Zero training, you will be allocated a Green Economy consultant to work with you on developing and implementing your action plan, even after the course has completed.

You will also gain access to our Alumni network, with regular events to give you an opportunity to network with likeminded peers and address challenges.

Across seven workshops we'll take you through the process of achieving Net Zero, with a combination of presentations, workshops and group activity. The course includes:

Climate change and you

By the end of this workshop you will be able to: 

  • Explain what causes climate change and how it impacts the environment

  • Identify the risks that climate change poses to their business or organisation

  • Recognise the business benefits of awareness and action on the sustainability agenda

Measuring Your Carbon Footprint

By the end of this workshop, you will be able to:

  • Describe what a carbon footprint is, the business benefits of measuring it and

    how to use it

  • Calculate your organisational carbon footprint

  • Define key net zero terms

Resource Efficiency & Transport

By the end of this workshop, you will be able to:

  • Identify practical steps that can be applied to deliver cost-effective resource efficiency improvements that cut your carbon footprint.

  • Identify practical steps to reduce waste and the costs associated with waste

  • Compare the options and incentives for sustainable travel choices.

Stakeholder Engagement

By the end of this workshop, you will be able to:

  • Identify different staff personalities and motivations

  • Develop an effective staff engagement programme

  • Build an engaged green team from across your organisation

Your impacts and environmental policy

By the end of this workshop, you will be able to:

  • Identify your business activities in respect to their environmental aspects and impacts.

  • Identify your significant impacts and prioritise areas for action

  • Write a clear and succinct environmental policy for your organisation

Managing Risk in Your Supply Chain

By the end of this workshop, you will be able to:

  • Assess risk within your supply chain

  • Engage with your supply chain to support your journey to net zero

  • Understand how value chain drivers can impact the way you demonstrate your green credentials

Executing Your Strategy

By the end of this workshop, you will be able to:

  • Set and prioritise achievable targets

  • Build on short and long-term action planning

  • Build an effective communication strategy and avoid greenwashing

Book Journey to Net Zero

Journey to Net Zero is a three-day training course which is delivered in person or online, with a cohort of between 10-20 attendees at each session.

To participate attendees can book a place for their preferred time on our events calendar, or arrange a bespoke session for a business, organisation network or supply chain.
